This is our dessert table. The baseball, basketball, football, and soccer ball gumball machines made for great decorations. They were purchased from Oriental Trading Company.
Other foods included cupcakes, cookies, chips, and licorice. For our meal I was thinking 'ball park.' I thought of hot dogs when doing this. I did not think of people choosing not to eat hot dogs unless they were turkey dogs or not eating hot dogs because they are Indian and they don't eat meat. Now you know I will spare you having the same embrassement.
Had to give the kids some fruit--an attempt to make a baseball with fruit.
Sugar cookies decorated as sports balls.
Our goodie bags: They were purchased from Oriental Trading company. They included a sports water bottle, cracker jacks, sports chocolates, and licorice.
The first game included 'warm ups.' My husband took the kids through a series of exercises like high knees, backwards running, push ups, sit ups, etc. to get warmed up for their sports adventure.
My three-year-old was attempting push ups. It was pretty cute.
The second game was BUMP. The boys had an easier time with playing basketball on the ten foot hoop versus the girls. However, it was pretty fun. If you don't know what BUMP is, the kids line up with the first two in possession of the ball. The first person shoots and the second person shoots immediately after. The person behind has to get the ball in before the person in front in order for the first person to get out of the game. If the first person makes it he/she goes to the end of the line waiting for his next turn. This game was called (I can't remember). But the object of the game was for people to line up on one side of the court and there was crabs in the middle. The people on the side had to bounce their balloon in the air without letting the crab kick it out of bounds before they got to the other side. If it was kicked out of bounds, then they became a crab until the last person was standing.
Game #3
This involved baseball. The kids were divided into two teams and had to run to the other side of the court, put on a baseball hat, a baseball jersey, a baseball mitt and say 'hey batter batter' three times. They then had to take everything off, run back to their team and wait for the next person to go.
Game #4
This involved football. We had to throw a football in a hanging hula hoop. They did pretty good. I was impressed.
We then had lunch, cake and ice cream, and then opened presents. While we were waiting for parents to arrive, the kids played more basketball or baseball.
